Briefcase on the Kitchen Table

The musings of a millenial midwestern lawyer and mom.

What in the world is this all about?

So, what is “the married lady” all about? It may be easier to tell you what it’s not about. As of today, I have been married six whole days. That means a few things; this blog will not offer much advice. I can think of few things more irritating than a newly married person trying to dispense all of her oh-so-wise-and-practiced marriage advice to rest of the world. It will also not be a place where I post daily about what a fantastic husband and perfect marriage I have. While there may of course be one of those from time to time (as I hope marriage, like the rest of my past with my now-husband, has some wonderful, spontaneous, and touching moments) the  point behind the blog is not to gloat about what I know is my still very much in the honeymoon stage marriage. It will also not be a blog that regularly harps on the state of marriage in the rest of the world. While (ask anyone who knows me) I can tend to be loud and have strong opinions, this blog will have little to do with making large political statements. For the most part this is a blog to share with all of you how my husband and I are navigating this crazy marriage thing. This means the high points, the low points, all of the funny little things no one tells you about before walking down the aisle. Look for stories regarding what I learn about myself, my spouse, and sharing life with another person. No topic is off limits; cooking, cleaning, sex, finances, social lives, humor, tears, travel, cloud nine, and what-have-I-gotten-myself-in-to? So please, follow TheMarriedLady and join my husband and I as we walk through this crazy adventure of beginning marriage together. If you would like it, this is your invitation to a first-row-seat to see what this marriage thing is all about.
