Briefcase on the Kitchen Table

The musings of a millenial midwestern lawyer and mom.

A Sip

So, when Avery and I first got married, he had never really had much V8 Splash. I have always been a fan because I am not a huge raw veggie-person but V8 Splash I can definitely drink a small glass of everyday (favorite flavor- Diet Berry Blast). For some reason, this particular juice always seems to be on sale at our grocery store two for $4. Additionally, we don’t keep soda pop in the house on a regular basis so, other than when I make ice tea, V8 Splash quickly became Ave’s go-to drink. We go through at least two bottles every week. I have noticed that he has developed a strange habit about it though.

Ave often takes a cup of juice wherever in the house he works on homework and quite often the cups are still there the next day, little memorials to whatever work he got done. Honestly, I am not complaining about the lingering cups; of all of habits my husband could develop, this seems rather tame. What does crack me up though is that there is always, ALWAYS one sip of juice left in the bottom. I asked him about it one day, figuring maybe there was pulp that had settled in the bottom or something and that was why he didn’t drink it. Nope, not the case at all, he didn’t even realizes he was doing it.

So there it is; whenever I find  a cup that Ave forgot to grab, I can be assured that in the bottom there will be one small sip of juice. And honestly, it always makes me smile a little to myself as a pour it out, rinse it, and place it in the dishwasher.

Whatcha think?
