So first friends, I am really sorry I haven’t posted in so long. Between the end of the school year, moving, and starting a summer internship, it has been quite busy! I will try to get back on my regular writing though- scout’s honor.
So recently leading up to our move, Avery and I had to do some running around to prepare things. One of our errand-runs involved a trip to Bed, Bath, and Beyond (we call it Triple B) and Target. We set off to run our errands and decided the trip would be much faster if we split up. He went his way and I went mine. I selected the items I would need and checked out. I was surprised at how fast I had found what I needed. I knew Avery would be at the other store for at least a few more minutes so I decided to hit-up the Starbucks and get Avery one of his favorite drinks for us to split; a nice little treat during a particularly stressful time of the semester. I ordered the drink and went to the other end of the counter. I was also watching out the windows of the Starbucks in case Avery passed by. I didn’t see him pass so I was sure I had pulled off my little surprise. I turned around to see how the barista was coming on the drink and there was Avery at the other end of the counter looking up at the menu board. It was clear he hadn’t seen me yet. I had to make a quick strategic decision; spoil the surprise and walk up to him before the drink was finished or wait for the surprise but potentially end up with two identical drinks. I decided it wasn’t worth having a liter of coffee so I walked up to Avery; he looked shocked and little disappointed to see me. I asked him what was up.
Turns out he also had gotten done at his store faster than anticipated, saw the Starbucks, and decided he could get my favorite drink as a little surprise. After a laugh, we left to share our one drink; it really is the thought that counts.

Whatcha think?
