Briefcase on the Kitchen Table

The musings of a millenial midwestern lawyer and mom.

The Husband Food-Tax

So I love to make food for other people. It is mostly baking but I love cooking for people in general and do so every chance I get. Because of this there are times when it seems like there is a never ending parade of soups, casseroles, and baked goods going out the front door. I set a rule for myself once I got married; whatever I make, I HAVE to leave some at home for Avery. It only seems fair. Avery helps fund this hobby of mine, he taste-tests new recipes, and he deals with me taking over the kitchen. That means, at the end of the baking-cooking-stirring extravaganza, the husband food tax is taken out. The only time this may not be true is when it would be far too obvious to put a little to the side, such as with a cake or a pie. It always works out in the end though; he will get a mini-pie or frosting-fest with whatever is left over. The husband food tax seems fair and I am quite sure Avery would agree.
